LumiStory is a small, independent project. This page explains what information we collect, why, and who we share it with — in plain language, not legal boilerplate.
Who this is for
LumiStory accounts are created and managed by an adult (a parent or guardian) on behalf of the family using the app. We don't knowingly collect account information directly from children.
What we collect
Account info: your email address, and whichever sign-in method you choose (Google, or an email + password you set).
Listening activity: which stories you've played, your playback position (so you can resume), how many times you've finished a story, which days you've listened to something (used to show your streak), and which stories you've favorited.
Personalization: if you rename a character in a story (e.g. giving a character your child's name), that name is stored so we can regenerate the audio with it. Please don't enter anything you wouldn't want stored as plain text.
Voice recordings: if you record your own voice to hear stories read in it, we store that recording and the story audio made from it. It is processed by a voice system we operate ourselves, not by a third-party voice service, and is used only to create story audio for your account. Deleting the voice on your account page, or deleting your account, removes the recording and everything made from it.
Children's voices: a parent or legal guardian can also record their child's voice, after confirming their consent on the account page. That recording is stored, used and deleted in exactly the same way, and only for that family's account.
What we don't collect: we don't run ads, we don't use tracking pixels or ad networks, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run LumiStory. Each only sees what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — our database and sign-in system (stores your account and activity data).
- Typecast — generates the story narration audio.
- Anthropic — helps translate and check story text between languages.
- Cloudflare R2 — stores the rendered audio files.
- Railway and Vercel — host our server and website.
None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Your choices
You can sign out, remove favorites, or stop using the app at any time. To delete your account and everything associated with it, email us (below) and we'll take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
